I am a mother of two children while being a designer, and advocate for the transformative impact of experiences, travel, and events in bringing people together and fostering change. I own a company, Francachela Ecolab, a venture that merges my dual professional passions: designing experiences and events with a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship

My skills as a designer and entrepreneur (market research, cool hunting, design thinking, use of social networks, among others) allow me to contribute in the development and execution of projects, specifically in ensuring the materialization of initiatives, guaranteeing the use by users/clients, and communicating effectively to all stakeholders the progress and results achieved.

I hold a certification as a diver and am presently undergoing training to attain professional diver status. Notable accomplishments include the successful conclusion of advanced and rescue diving courses, providing me with the skills needed to navigate challenging underwater scenarios and ensure the safety of both myself and other divers. Furthermore, I have achieved the esteemed Reef Check certification, allowing me to actively participate in the assessment and conservation of coral reefs—an essential endeavor in safeguarding marine ecosystems.

My training also encompasses underwater navigation and ghost net retrieval, a task that has become increasingly crucial in the fight against pollution and the preservation of marine life.

The ocean holds a special place in my heart; the diversity, joy, and sense of freedom in marine life captivate me deeply.

Armed with a background in visual arts and a profound interest in arts, humanities, and sciences, my journey has unfolded as a teacher, researcher, and photographer over the years. Alongside this, my passion for nature, adventures, travel, intangible heritage, ancestral knowledge, food, and sustainable processes has broadened my concept of creation. For me, the act of creativity is a way to engage with the space I occupy, viewing creation as a lifestyle that transcends various realms of knowledge. Artistic techniques, scientific methodologies, pedagogical spaces, historical analyses, social and environmental studies, and more, become tools accompanied by critical, context-driven thinking. They converge in a spirit of play and experimentation to craft interdisciplinary projects, usher in new technologies, and explore novel ways of inhabiting spaces.

Serving as a documentary photographer and content creator for Fundación Casa Cielito allows me to delve into and understand topics that deeply resonate with my passions. I document these stories to ensure they reach everyone who, in one way or another, connects with the dreams, emotions, and actions of this fantastic team.

With a background in biological engineering and a master’s degree in biology, my professional focus centers on the biology and ecology of coral reefs. Over the past decade, I have engaged in various initiatives dedicated to coral reef restoration and the monitoring of marine and coastal ecosystems. This involvement spans collaborative efforts with national conservation organizations and roles as an independent consultant.

My expertise in this field has enabled me to coordinate restoration projects, primarily focused on the San Andrés and Providencia archipelago. Additionally, I have taken on leadership roles in nationwide training programs targeting the general public, encouraging their involvement in coral reef restoration and monitoring projects across the Caribbean. Dedicated to marine and coastal ecosystem conservation through scientific communication, I am also a scientific illustrator.

I firmly believe that understanding our natural resources is crucial for cherishing and preserving them. My goal is to continue learning and contributing within my field of expertise for the cause of marine conservation in Colombia.
